Launching a company requires strategy and a map. Start your company without those navigation tools is a strategy for failure. When I started Innovate Social Media in 2013, I had a dream, not a plan. Through sheer will and constant seeking out of information and knowledge about emerging marketing techniques kept me ahead of the curve. I jumped off the cliff of entrepreneurship without knowing if my shoot would even open. Not a place that many businesses survive.

According to Fundera, a business financing entity, 20% of small businesses fail in their first year, 30% of small businesses fail in their second year, and 50% of small businesses fail after five years in business. Finally, 70% of small business owners fail in their 10th year in business.

If you’re going to launch a company, you have to be clear about who you are and what parts of you are going to drive your brand. Brands start with people. People need and want relationships and trust-building before they decide to engage with you to buy a product or service. You must have online credibility with social media, a website, content, and creatives that say you’re authentic and will bring your followers an experience rather than sell them something.
